Every time I come to work I’m always asked to write a blog for the stores blog post. I’m not much for writing just anything, but challenge accepted. Since working with The Village Geek, I must say that I have made some cool friends. I was never one to consider my boss a friend, but I’m always treated as such when I come in the store, whether its as a customer or to work. I never felt so welcomed anywhere, but I guess that’s the nature of a place that is geared towards community and making friends to play games with.
Since I’ve been working here at “The Geek” I’ve been introduced to so many games that I would have never even thought of playing on my own. I mean if you would look at me I’d say I stick out like a sore thumb here. But seeing all the different people that come in and how willing they are to teach and grow the community in whatever game they are into makes me feel good to be a part of something much bigger than I imagined. I usually kept my geekiness to my self with all my action figures, super hero movies and cartoons. Here, I don’t have too. At The Village Geek I am greeted with open arms and I couldn’t be happier to be part of a great team as an employee and as part of this community.
If you ever find yourself in the area, whether its in Manhattan of McPherson stop in say hello and feel the love of gaming. If you just happen to be in Manhattan, get yourself a cup of coffee to add to your experience.
